As per usual, there have been a great many moronic things said about this movie. Some critics have been offended by it, but don’t let that make you think this is some sorta gorefest. The violence is intense and reasonably graphic, but it’s certainly not gory in the conventional sense. I find it amusing that those who were offended by the film have more or less said that it was too horrifying, cause ya know, god forbid that someone actually be horrified by a horror movie. They’ve also said it is misogynistic, just like they’ve said about every other slasher movie ever. (Slasher movie isn’t entirely appropriate for describing this, but it’s as good as we’ll get.) This is a particularly irritating complaint, first because they always say this, second because it’s a bullcrap non-argument evasion intended to avoid any real analysis, and finally because it isn’t true. In fact, it’s even less true here than it usually is, cause the film doesn’t make the killer into the hero. Yes, bad things happen to the women in this film, but we AREN’T supposed to be happy about it. And, of course, very bad things happen to men in the film as well, but who the hell cares about them anyway? Everyone knows that women are much, much more important than men. I also think it’s interesting that the killer is a fat, greasy dude from out in the country, as they so often are in this sorta movie, yet it has not been accused of being bigoted against rural people, nor has any horror movie I’ve ever heard of. What a bizarre coincidence. Wonder why critics don’t seem to care about those sorts of people. Maybe they really think that they all are killers. I dunno.

But, critical idiocy aside, this is a very nicely done horror film. The plot is simplicity itself- 3 youths are captured and tormented by a backwoods psychopath while vacationing near Wolf Creek in Australia. Subplots are rarely of interest in slasher films, and ‘Wolf Creek’ fortunately has none of them. Still, with the very small cast we get to know these characters quite a bit better than we usually would in a slasher film, and they are certainly far more likable than the hot young teens of the American slasher revival. (Of course that doesn’t mean much, as said hot young teens are usually loathsome.)

‘Wolf Creek’ was really made on the cheap, only about 1 million bucks, I hear, and it’s certainly got a rough, gritty look. Some people claim that grainy, DV films with handheld cameras are more realistic, which makes precisely no sense as life is not especially grainy, and I tend to hold my head fairly still. However, this technique can allow for a greater sorta intensity and physicality, which works well here. Despite the generally rough visuals, it’s still got some rather beautiful cinematography at times, and the great Australian deserts are a fine backdrop for such events.

Yeah, the film does take a while to get going, certainly longer than is necessary, but seriously, are you guys all 3 years old or what? Go out in the lobby and drink your juice and then go potty, and then it’ll almost be time for the killing to start. The acting is extremely good for a film with this kinda budget. The 3 leads all do a fine job, with some fairly authentic, if not exactly fascinating, casual banter in the first half of the film. Still, the second half is much more important, and they play it a bit different from most horror films, which is largely why this bothers so many critics. In most horror movies, none of the characters are ever authentically terrified. They’re pretty nervous and jumpy and may let out a scream before they die, but they’re pretty much in control. Not so here, as Magrath and Morassi spend much of the latter part of the movie in near hysterics, and are utterly convincing, with two of the finest performances of this sort since Marilyn Burns’ classic turn in the original ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre’. John Jarrat is also excellent as the killer. They use a trick which is fairly common, in that we are introduced to him as if he were a normal character, who seems amiable enough, if a bit odd, and we then slowly see his violent side revealed. It’s an old trick, but a good one, and it works especially well here, aided by his Australian accent, which are always inherently non-threatening to me, for some reason. He does get to be a bit wisecracking at times, but never to the point which he becomes the hero of the film.

Many will say this has an anticlimactic ending, and while I can’t help but agree with this to some degree, it’s also kind of interesting in that it is so different from what you’d usually see in this sorta film. The small cast also makes it quite a bit less predictable, as most slasher movies have the few central characters who will obviously survive, along with plenty of cannon fodder. With only 3 main characters there just aren’t enough people to allow any meaningless little kills stuffed in at the beginning, and it’s tougher to predict the order in which they will be offed.

Though I’m sure many of you are sick of hearing this, `Wolf Creek’ really is a throwback to the more intense horror films of the 70’s like `The Texas Chainsaw Massacre’ and `The Hills Have Eyes’. It’s got an intensity and seriousness that is almost inevitably lacking from later slasher movies, and the old rough and violent feeling. As such, it certainly isn’t for everyone, as many people seem to only like gentle, feel-good horror or conventional gorefests. But, it you’ve got a taste for something darker and more intense, `Wolf Creek’ is definitely worth a look.

Grade: A- (This is after watching it again on DVD, and determining that it was even better than I’d thought initially. I’d change the rating to a 5, if I could.)

The thing about horror movie conventions is that you get stuck following them. You get so used to them that you either figure the movie out before it even gets going or you might be scared but you’re really simply going through the motions. Then comes a movie that plays with conventions and, at times, decimates them. You’re no longer in your comfort zone. You no longer know what’s going to happen. Wolf Creek is kind of like that movie.

It begins slowly as a road trip film. A great deal of the beginning is spent on developing characters (shock! What a novel concept!). At times it might drag a bit, but really its all set up. A lot of negative reviewers have commented that its boring. I guess in today’s society of instant gratification I shouldn’t be surprised…but I think the slower start works well for this movie. There are a couple scenes setting up a feeling of unease in your stomach. But what the beginning does really well is set you at ease before destroying that ease with one of the cruelest villains seen in today’s horror film culture.

What happens when the scares start is out of a nightmare. I’m not going to say anything else about the plot because in the way it plays with conventions, there are some nice little twists in the plot. It keeps you on your toes. In fact, if you are an avid horror film buff, you will probably enjoy this movie the most simply because of the way it continues to crush horror film cliches and conventions. I think that’s what impressed me the most about this movie. As a horror film buff, I sat there and watched in glee as things that normally happen in a horror film were turned on its head. Also, like a fellow reviewer has mentioned, with a cast of 3 protagonists, there really is no “cannon fodder.” And you never know who will survive and who won’t. I really want to talk more about it but it will ruin some of the little twists that really make this film what it is.

The movie is very dark in tone. It reminded me of the feel of High Tension (another great horror film this year). The gore isn’t as over the top as High Tension which helps ground the film in the possible territory. And Australia is the perfect location for this film. The scenes of complete isolation and utter desolation; the kind where you don’t know which way is which. Its disorienting in a way that many horror films try to capture but never fully express. Some scenes toward the end are so bleak and disorienting you can’t help but feel lost and wondering if you were stranded out there what WOULD you do?

This has been an “interesting” year for horror films. On one hand there have been a ton of PG-13 horror films that have catered to the safe and money-making teen crowd. These films offer mainly the “boo” scare with the loud music and close ups. The kind of movie people shriek at because they are surprised, then spend the next ten minutes laughing about it. And there have been a few movies that have been “throw backs” to the 1970/early 80s horror/gore flicks; the really in your face flicks that at one time defined what horror was.

One of them took all of the bad parts of those films (The Devil’s Rejects) and left out all of the good. This film did the exact opposite. What films like The Devil’s Rejects forget is that violence for violence’s sake does not instill terror. However, when you care about the characters, like in the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre and in this film, the violence gets under your skin. It gets into your head and you find yourself holding your breath that everyone makes it out okay…but knowing full well its not that kind of story.

Wolf Creek: a must see.

Love Potion #9 - Really sweet movie. Tate Donovan is a desperate scientist who has an novel encounter with a gypsy. He receives a esteem potion that is guaranteed to change his life. He and a repulsive (if you can have that!) colleague - Sandra Bullock - launch to breakdown and glimpse the potion. Of course to do that effectively, they have to try it themselves. The absolute best brush-off is in this movie, and impartial thinking of it makes me smile. The sage is charming and very fascinating. This is a must watch for the romantic comedy buff!

This movie is an absolute gem. Anyone is certain to tumble in like with these two nerdy “unattractive” science geeks. Having practically nonexistant fancy lifes, these two nerds conduct an experiment with this “treasure potion no. 9″, and bag that it has phenomonal results. Of course, having these two nerds transform into splendid people has nothing to do with their success.

Watching Bullock and Donovan in their nerdy attire is hilarious. This is an awesome feel safe comedy which will have you rooting for the suitable guy to glean the girl. This is a titanic movie which you will not be disapointed with.

Jim Varney in one of his best misadventures! The story-line is absolutely hysterical…Jim Carrey and the young Jerry Lewis couldn’t have done it better!

Critics acquire mark..there is no such thing as “low-brow” comedy..educated people call it slapstick, and not everyone can do it well. Jim Varney had a “gift”, and he knew how to expend it…combining this recent account with his personality and antics resulted in a gut busting Comic film.

I have seen countless gargantuan comedies that rush the gamut, from The Stooges to Woody Allen. “Ernest Goes To Jail” is accurate up there with the best comdeies you could enjoy! Too dreadful it’s not on DVD.

It’s almost impossible to find any reviews of Kanon that refrain from comparing it to the show Air. Now that Funimation has acquired the rights to bring both of these (already similar) shows out just one week apart will likely do little to differentiate one from the other. Having just watched the two series literally back to back, I can attest to the fact that Kanon succeeds in many areas where Air comes short. Yes there are some similarities between the two that will warrant direct comparison throughout my review but in actuality, Kanon is certainly more emotionally taxing in its prose and scope. Well before I get ahead of myself here, let’s start at the beginning, shall we?

Buy,Download, Or Stream Kanon: The Complete Series! Click Here

Released across 4 discs, Funimation is packaging up TBS Animation’s Kanon in a complete series box set. The packaging is quite appropriate if slightly mysterious in its rear panel summary. Inside is a pair of beautifully artistic thin packs, each of which contains two discs. The choice of whites and pale blues is subtly appropriate for the oft-snowy setting of the story itself. I may even go on record as saying that the thin pack exterior art is the finest Funimation has released to date. In all the show runs 576 minutes and earns a fairly conservative TV PG rating (no nudity, language, or violence to speak of).

The set, as has been the trend of late, contains virtually no extras to speak of although the language options are thorough (English dub and original Japanese with or without English subtitles).

With stories like this that play out literally as emotionally driven mysteries, I feel it’s critical that I don’t provide any spoilers while attempting to summarize the plot here. That said, the story follows a high-school age young man who comes to stay with his aunt and female cousin after a seven-year hiatus. The viewer is treated to the same laid back pacing that Air relished and Kanon even operates off the sometimes-monotonous rhythm of daily routine. Where Kanon succeeds over Air is through the use of witty dialog that actually manages to be funny. The lead character (Yuichi) has many genuine moments of interaction, especially early on when the massive cast is being established.

Interestingly enough, save for one other male, the cast is entirely female. It sounds suspicious but manages to work surprisingly well. Much of the story plays off the fact that Yuichi basically comes back to town with amnesia of his previous visit (which was just over summer vacation seven years prior). The viewer is along for the unveiling of the facts right along side the lead character through frequent flashbacks that shed a bit of light present situations.

I won’t sugarcoat the reality that this isn’t a show for the overly sensitive as heartbreaks and a near endless succession of tragedies abounds. However, if I can offer any insight without taking away from the show’s charm it would be to hold off on passing judgment until you’ve followed it all the way through to completion. Many of the show’s mysteries and seeming impossibilities don’t start making sense until the final couple episodes. In fact, the bigger picture isn’t fully realized until the last section of the final episode!

Like such classic films as the Sixth Sense, Kanon is setup with clues and hints all along the way that cannot be fully appreciated until the second or third time through. Just prepare for a few of those “how could I have not realized this the first time” moments.

The show’s art is simply flawless throughout. Landscapes, textures, lighting, and ambiance are truly second to none. Much of the show takes place over the course of a winter but don’t for a minute suspect this left the artists with a pallet of drab grays and whites. Truthfully, the sunsets, snowfalls, crunching sound of boots and steamy clouds of exhalation just dazzle consistently throughout.

Additionally there are many that attempt but few shows that succeed in so charmingly capturing mood. Acting work, especially in the English dub, is outstanding. This is especially admirable considering that such a large cast of similarly aged females surely required unique performances for distinction. I should mention that a few characters do sound a lot alike but in the end the choice was most certainly deliberate.

With each of my reviews I like to attempt to nail down a single attribute that could be the show’s greatest strength. With Kanon I may have to bend my own rule on account of the fact that so many aspects come off so well. I was initially leaning toward character development as, in this case, it is detrimental in moving the story along. Here we have a cast of characters that is near impossible not to adore for their sincerity, innocence, sense of humor, and in many cases, realistic interaction with each other. Coupled to the stunning visuals and solid voice work, it’s tough to praise one aspect over the others.

In all, I won’t kid you into thinking Kanon won’t be difficult to market to the domestic general public. Upon first impression of the cover art, I feared a tale leaning toward the female-set what with the five glassy-eyed girls and pink lettering and all. However, and much like Air, this is a show with an abundance of heart and enough intriguing elements along the way to soften up even the hardest viewer. It’s a story that transcends fads, styles, cultures and even defies genres come to think of it. We simply have nothing like this in the United States for a direct comparison and I’m certain that accounts for a lot of its charm. It’s definitely not for everyone on account of the fact that what it lacks in action sequences is made up for with the viewer’s ability to connect with the cast.

Take even the name Kanon for example- it is cleverly explained in one scene to have been inspired by the musical definition (canon) whereby a composition consists of a single melody repeated over and over with the addition of more elements each time. In a way I cannot think of a more appropriate metaphor for the show itself in its portrayal of life as being essentially the same day lived over and over with the addition of new experiences layered atop the familiarity of our routines.

Shows like this are successful not for their ability to focus on one aspect of the human condition but rather because they manage to grab hold of all of the little things that define humanity then put those elements together across a pace at which nearly anyone can relate. Kanon is more of an experience, a chance to briefly live among someone else’s creative vision than it is simply entertainment. Kanon is truly timeless storytelling in the strictest sense of the word.

This is my all-time favorite anime series. You have to be prepared to watch it multiple times, as the plot is so delightfully interwoven. I’m from upper New York State and was born in a snowdrift, so the dead cold winter scenery is breathtakingly beautiful and the viewer will forget he/she is watching an animated production. Anyone reading this, believe me; I collected the individual discs while spending over $200. I never expected this to become available. It is a bargain. You get the entire 24 episodes here. Funny, thought-provoking and very serious, not to mention absolutely wonderful music, this series will run you through the emotional mill! I cannot recommend “Kanon” enough. I won’t give away any of the story but you’ll not be able to stop watching.

Sincerely, Harold.

Yes, this movie has plenty of silly moments, but there is a very true and sometimes rather touching record that takes precedence over everything that happens. You can’t come by through the most serious of situations without the palliative of laughter now and again, and Life actually does suppose a serious fable. Eddie Murphy proves once again that he is a substantial actor, and Martin Lawrence was surprisingly top-notch as the more serious of two men sentenced to life in prison for a slay they didn’t commit. One night in 1932, fate brought Rayford Gibson (Murphy), a smooth-talking hustler with tremendous dreams, and Claude Banks (Lawrence) a advantageous fellow about to begin a fine job, together in a Unique York nightclub. For entirely different reasons, both guys have to face the displeasure of the club owner’s wrath; and so it is that Gibson and Banks raze up going on a bootlegging speed to Mississippi. One plain man later, and both men are sentenced to life in prison for destroy. Since Banks blames Gibson for getting him into all this mess, there relationship varies in quality as the years go by, but gradually a true friendship develops between them. They try to sprint several times but slay up spending basically their whole lives in prison. Along the device, we meet with several sub-plots though-provoking some of their fellow inmates, but the movie never strays far from the lives of Gibson and Banks. The passage of time is marked by clips of historical events, and some profitable makeup works makes both men leer weak and obsolete out as they near into their senior years.

This is not a prison account of hopelessness, however. While no pardon ever comes their plot, justice has a design of willing out eventually, and the final ten minutes of the film are honest terrific. Since the narrative does capture location in Mississippi in 1932 and beyond, run plays a major portion in the film, but it does not elaborate the movie by any means. There are a number of silly scenes, especially those racy pie and cornbread, and Eddie Murphy will definitely construct you laugh - Martin Lawrence sort of plays the heavy here to Murphy’s periodic antics. Some familiar faces pop up in the movie: Rick James plays the Recent York club owner, Bernie Mac has a relatively minor role, and Heavy D plays a little but principal section. Wyclef Jean contributes an novel procure for the film. The whole cast is trustworthy, and a very expedient script keeps the film on slip and provocative.

This isn’t Mosey Crazy; there are plenty of laughs, but I wouldn’t call this a comedy - Life the movie is amusing in the map life itself can sometimes be - laughter can glean us through the hard times, but it doesn’t veil the fact that the hard times are there. This movie really deserves more attention than it has received; with its serious underlying quality, it ranks among Eddie Murphy’s most impressive films.

I’ve seen “Life” twice thus far, and I must concede that it has to be one of the best films to ever cast Eddie Murphy. He and Martin Lawrence are unprejudiced as emotionally poignant as they are downright hysterical in this memorable comedy/drama of two Prohibition-era guys from Harlem NYC who inadvertently become framed for cancel in the Deep South while on a bootlegging rush for the local crime boss they each owe debts to assist home. They are soon enough sentenced to life imprisonment in a Mississippi chain gang where they part a “Felix and Oscar”-esque relationship that spans 65 years through thick and thin times (including numerous race attempts) . However in the destroy, they literally become friends for life as they advance to terms with their imprisonment. The make-up done by 6-time Oscar winner Rick Baker to transform Murphy & Lawrence from young to feeble over the course of so many years is the correct showstopper of “Life”. I wouldn’t be the least surprised if Mr. Baker garners Oscar #7 near 2000; he and Murphy have been quite a dynamic duo since “Coming to America”. A distinct must-see!

“Persepolis” is an spicy film based on Marjane Satrapi’s autobiographical graphic unique of the same name about her childhood in Tehran during the last Iranian revolution and coming of age after emigrating to Vienna. It is an extraordinarily ordinary narrative about an average woman coming to terms with herself and with the world around her. Did I say “average woman”? My abominable. I meant dynamic, charming, brilliant, and fiercely individualistic. Ms. Satrapi’s narrative is among the finest works ever intriguing and bestows upon the viewer the endless virtues of knowledge, a broadened mind, and a just perspective on humanity. “Persepolis” will atomize your heart, develop you smile and laugh out loud, cheer, possibly swear, and restore your faith in humanity. The fact that this was passed over for an Oscar in favor of yet another mediocre Pixar danger (about a rat that controls a chef by pulling his hair, no less) is the ultimate proof obvious that that award (or any other, really) has no merit whatsoever.

Young Marji walks down the street to the dwelling where shady characters reside. As she passes each bootlegger, they protest the names of the forbidden fruit they hold. “Lipstick” whispers one, “Jichael Mackson” mispronounces another. She continues on until she hears what she wants: “Iron Maiden”. She mercurial negotiates a stamp and makes off with her prize honest as a group of overbearing religious figures tower over her. They have taken disclose with her shoes: humdrum sneakers. Marjie insists they are for basketball, but another spots her Michael Jackson patch, a symbol of American greed. Then the coup-de-gras; she has “punk is not expressionless” scrawled across the serve of her outfit. Thinking hasty, Marjie bursts into tears, sobbing lies about her parents having died in the war with the Iraqis and a cruel guardian who will burn her with an iron if they turn her in. Safely relieve at home, having tricked the local oppressive religious posse, the young girl grabs a tennis racket as a guitar and bangs her head to the sweet, hard-earned reward of heavy metal. The scene then segues -music composed rocking- to the frontlines of the war where the modern Iranian Islamic rulers are sending young men unarmed to speed the Iraqi army, acting as human shields/martyrs. Their parents are rewarded by the government for their sons’ sacrifices with small plastic keys which are promised to commence the door to Heaven for their stupid children. Such are the complications of everyday life in Iran at this time. The duality of these scenes speaks a lot for the power and message of this film. But while there is highly enlightening political commentary and historical information to be found here, the focus is on the everyday life and struggles of our protagonist with the horrors of her surrounding often being downplayed.

The animation is minimalist art of the highest stylistic brilliance. The endearing nature of Marjie and her family is only highlighted by the ultra-simplistic gloomy and white pencil-and-paper artwork. All of the CG in the world could not improve on this film in any way; the focus is on memoir, characters, and stylistic integrity, as it should be. The film’s philosophies urge deep and gigantic, ranging from harsh commentaries on authority to harsh commentary on purposeless counterculture. Wisdom comes from Marjie’s grandmother, from her imaginary chats with God, and her memories of her communist uncle. These are life lessons about integrity, prudence, and acceptance that one should always carry with them and gain many, many quotable quotes.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Persepolis! Click Here

Do not reflect for a second that this film is all about heaviness of spirit and preachiness. No, no, no, no; nothing could be further from the truth. Ms. Satrapi is a shining social satyrist who fills “Persepolis” with pointed jokes, lighthearted moments, and heartwarming charm while pointing out that at heart, we are all the same. There is a time in Marjie’s life where she becomes a humdrum, jaded cynic unable to do anything but behold TV and let life pass her by. Then one day, she wakes up aroused again. The result is a musical montage that will likely produce you laugh hysterically or jump out of your seat to stammer along. Possiby both. This is unbiased that kind of film. Throw in some spirited appreciate for Godzilla, Bruce Lee, and Terminator 2 and I am beyond sold.

The DVD has a few behind-the-scenes special features that expose us the woman herself at work. Having already fallen in cherish with her keen doppelganger, seeing the vivacious Marjane Satrapi made flesh is a staunch treat. We find a thought of the old-school animation processes and are able to inspect Ms. Satropi act out different characters for the animators to peruse. This is nearly as worthy fun as the movie itself. Astounding feature.

This is a near-perfect film that I would recommend to anybody who isn’t going to rush away from a mostly dark and white captivating film with subtitles. And if you are: well, relish your life of closed-minded cinematic ignorance. “Persepolis” is a revelation whose duty is to entertain us while reminding us objective how estimable we have it and simultaneously educating us about a culture and history few in the West have made any attempt to understand. Ms. Satropi’s insisted that this sage be intriguing and not filmed for this reason: captivating characters are more universally identifiable. Station a film in Iran and acquire it with Iranians and you have an ethic film that many will subconsciously refuse to identify with. But with animation, all things are possible; even bridging a gaping cultural divide. But at it’s heart, this is a film about the enthusiam of youth, the hardships of adulthood, and the triumph of personal integrity. Do not miss this.

Every once in a while a colossal revelation comes in cinema… and we have one here!

Based on the graphic novels The Complete Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi, this 90 miniature film is a genuine translation of the unusual source material. The heavily stylized unlit and white cartoon is very much yet remains simple in it’s universal emotional core. The charming limited girl we are introduced slowly grows up to be a defiant woman in a dwelling that is not for her. As we go along with the pace characters approach and go, but the threat of Marjane’s legend never becomes former, every state point makes an impact. The dismal accumulate and captivating rendition of Survey of the Tiger add a amazing layer to the whole experience.

This film is a breath of unique air in this cynical age of high opinion mega tent-pole films. For Iranians, it’s a bittersweet perambulate home, and for Americans… a big chance to observe that Iranians are not the monsters portrayed in the never ending game of politico.

A dazzling dusky and white film for an era of oh so gray problems.

This famous documentary provides a bird’s survey idea into the inner sanctum of Bill Clinton’s 1992 presidential campaign. D.A. Pennebaker and Chris Hegedus spent three weeks shot 33 hours of film, which was later combined with news footage to steal the cause-and-effect relationship between what happened inside “The War Room” and the election of the president. There is no shriek over narration to this documentary, impartial clips spliced together. The dynamic late it all is the Fire and Ice duo of chief Clinton strategist James Carville and director of communications George Stephanopoulos. Of course, both titles are unpleasant simplifications of their roles in the campaign, and it is impossible not to glance “The War Room” as being one of the inspirations for “The West Hover.”

What stands out in watching this documentary is the complete sense that this is what it was really like, which, in the ruin, is more impressive than the fact that these guys won the election. Here you regain to peer the defective Clinton “speedy response” strategy at work, where every attack by the opponent is crushed in an immediate barrage of rhetoric. For me the most memorable sequences were when the Clinton brain trust witness the Bush-Quayle campaign is having its campaign signs printed in Brazil rather than in the U.S., Carville becomes emotional in the final staff meeting of the Clinton War Room, and when he and Stephanopoulos secure themselves unsure as to how they are supposed to address the man who is now the president-elect.

From the perspective of today it is lively to compare the Carville and Stephanopoulos we glimpse tedious closed doors with their more public personas as talking heads. The Jim and Mary (Matlin) traveling road point to that keeps Carville in the political spotlight today might obtain more of the publicity, but the one who has impressed me the most is Stephanopoulos, whose work on the Sunday morning political roundtable “This Week” established his reputation as one of the most honest and restrained political analysts on the tube of either party affiliation. That assessment was codified this past year when Stephanopoulos replaced Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts as the hosts of the present. “The War Room” shows not only where he paid his dues, but gives him his bone fides as well.

The final irony is that the one clip showing Al Gore giving a campaign speech is more dynamic than anything we saw during the 2000 election.

This movie is the unique residence of the art contemplate into a political campaign on the rush.

Carville and Stephanapoulos are really the central characters in this documentary, not Clinton. The action is very racy, even though we all know how the memoir will destroy.

Watching the movie now, it is a bit though-provoking to peruse if you can sense the impending fallout between Clinton and Stephanapoulos.

Watch this movie, and read either “What It Takes” or “The Boys on the Bus” as an necessary primer on how political campaigns are waged in the television age.

My only complaint is that this is exactly the type of movie that can retract advantage of the opportunities offered by DVD: Historical charts, timelines, bios, etc. These were opportunities that were missed in this version.

CONTENT:

Ok, if you are reluctant of this movie because people affirm you that its really gory/sex-oriented, then I feel you should eye it for yourself. I was severely disapointed on how slight this made me cringe. Yes, there is sex. Yes, there is gore. But NO, its not as unpleasant as everyone says…unless you are easily grossed out. There is probably one sex-like scene that made me squint, but otherwise nothing is that awful in this. The worst you will gape as far as nudity is concerned is female breasts and butts…there are a few questionable parts though (the spider-woman’s expend of her vaginal location for where she removes webbing) .

The gore factor isn’t as abominable as people say. If you really want gore, then discover some of the Hentai titles like Midnight Panther, or Demon Beast Invasion and this will seem like child’s play.

PLOT:

The record isn’t that terrible, but it tends to lean towards female abuse and/or taking advantage of the female body. The ending is what made me support the DVD because it seemed like it leaned away from the over-used sex scenes and towards an genuine legend.

The DVD is wonderful, and it offers a lengthly interview with the director, bios on the characters, and the unique trailer. The menu is also easily navicable, which is a plus for these types of movies. Also, as usual, the Japanese and English versions are available with the Japanese version creaming the dub as far as quality.

OVERALL:

To sum this movie/dvd up, I would say its like Ninja Scroll with sex and demons instead of nudity and ninjas. I would obtain this DVD is you are a fan of Ninja Scroll, Demon City Shinjuku, or a Wind Named Amnesia.

When Nefarious City (also called Supernatural Monster City) was original, it was very impressive for its time. As anime evolves, a lot of what once made this anime stand out — its adult theme, odd demons, and space twists — have become stereotypical standbys of the genre. While not as classic as such seminal movies as Akira, Heinous City unruffled had a lot to offer anime fans.

The biggest flaw this movie has is its absolutely awful English dubbing, which manage to flatten out all spicy charactization, lose well-known site details, mangle other place details, and criminally distort remarkable of the dialogue’s valid meaning. (The English dubbed version of Heinous City drops the rating to one star.) If you stammer on hearing it in English, at least turn on the English subtitles as well so you can peek what you’re not hearing. Better yet, honest leave it in Japanese with English subtitles.

Be warned, this is an adult movie. There’s sex, violence, rape, and at least one monster that will beget male viewers gulp and scandalous their legs. Some of it’s gratuitous (and some of it’s tame in comparison to films like Urotsukidoji), but viewers who are okay with these kinds of topics will gain mighty to be pleased.

Ice Age: The Gargantuan Chill was very proper and intelligent. Honest seen The Meltdown and was thoroughly entertained. Hollywood finally place something out that didn’t have a bunch of sex, blood and gore. Astonishing one liners and originality in this. The QUEEN did an outstanding job, and Ray honest made it all the better. This would be one for the DVD Library for positive. Kids AND adults both had a huge time. Thank you Hollywood for finally having something that was fun.

We went to witness Ice Age 2 the day it came out, which generally guarantees an fervent and rowdy crowd. Everyone there was laughing and clapping throughout.
